The Black-capped Chickadee (Poecile atricapilla) in the Paridae family is possibly the easiest bird to identify and recognize from its call in the area where no other Chickadees live.
These Chickadees are also curious and have little fear. They are one of the easiest birds to get familiar with enough that they will eat out of your hand. Here is how I did it:
I started out with a bird feeder with seed that the Chickadees liked. I also put a glove near the feeder with some seeds on it. Once the birds were familiar with the feeder and the glove, I started sitting close to the feeder. I gradually moved closer so that I was sitting within a few feet of the feeder.
