The Scarlet Robin, Petroica multicolor, is a common Australasian bird of the Petroicidae family.

The Scarlet Robin was recently split into two species with the other species known as Pacific Robin. For now, I will treat them as joined as I am following Clements sixth ed.

Classification:

Order: Passeriformes
Family: Petroicidae
Genus: Petroica
Species: P. multicolor

"Plenty of Scarlet Robins around American River. As so often happens, I seem to attract the kids. This male is just moulting into his adult colours. He’s holding his wings out because, again, it was hot = 41 Celsius. Nothing was moving except these robins and occasionally me."
