The Elepaio, Chasiempis sandwichensis, is one of the Monarch Flycatchers. It lives in Hawaii. As with most endemic Hawaiian birds, it is endangered in at least part of its range.
It is known as an early riser and late to bed. It sings during those times when other birds are silent. It is also one of the few birds that was eaten by native Hawaiians.
