The Great-horned Owl is perhaps the best known owl in the Americas. As the name suggests, they are large with ‘horns’ on each side of the head - actually tufts of feathers.

A pair of Great-horned Owls nested about thirty feet from my drive-way a couple of summers ago. Here are some photos of them:
