Hypocolius or Gray Hypocolius

The Hypocolius or Gray Hypocolius, Hypocolius ampelinus, is the only member of the family Hypocoliidae. However, its classification is not fully understood. For now, we follow Clements.

The Hypocolius is a common bird in the Middle East. However, it is shy and will fly into deep cover when disturbed. So, photographing one takes patience.

They eat primarily fruit, but will take some invertebrates as well.
