The Kagu is a bird that can barely fly and is limited to the island of New Caledonia. It is the only member of its family - Rhynochetidae. It is threatened with extinction by introduced animals including rats and cats.

It has long legs, bluish-gray bird about the size of a chicken.

What a great bird: The Cagou is the symbol of New Caledonia, is a protected bird that cannot fly and pond only one egg each year. I saw 4 ‰ from the total population :-)
