The Northern Cassowary is a beautiful - at least to me, but actually potentially danagerous bird. Because of it’s size (nearly five feet in height), it can cause some serious injuries to people if it feels threatened.
The Northern Cassowary is limited in distribution to the northern coast of New Guinea, so you are not likely to see one in the wild unless you are very persistent.
The breeding habits of this shy bird are rather unusual because the male cares for the eggs and the female will often find another male while the first is still caring for the brood. She will then mate again and leave that male with another nest full.
