Pied-billed Grebe

Podilymbus podiceps

Dec 8

The Pied-billed Grebe is a small unassuming bird. It spends its time sitting on the water - usually a small lake - and diving for small fish and other food.

It occurs throughout North American, Central America and the northern part of South America. Surprisingly, it sometimes shows up in Europe.

Classification:

Order: Podicipediformes
Family: Podicipedidae
Genus: Podilymbus
Species: P. podiceps
