The Crimson Chat, Epthianura tricolor, is a beautiful example of the small family of Australian Chats - Epthianuridae. It lives on the southern and western coasts of Australia as well as the interior.
It eats small invertebrates. But, it also has a brush-like tongue and can use it to extract seeds and nectar from flowers.

"Couldn’t get close to these either. There had been a nest until the day before we arrived when the goannas apparently got it. There were still a few adults around but they were dispersing… probably to try again. Another stunning bird,simply irresistible even when seen in the distance."
