The Horned Lark or Shore Lark, Eremophila alpestris is a circumpolar bird of the northern Hemisphere primarily. It lives in all temperate areas with a northern population that migrates extensively. There is also an isolated population in the country of Colombia.

They tend to occur in upland fields and in the winter are often seen in flocks on the edge of roads where they get gravel and then fly up when cars approach. You may also see them working across snowy fields  in the winter taking any seeds and insects that they find.

Classification:

Order: Passeriformes
Family: Alaudidae
Genus: Eremophila
Species: E. alpestris
