The Scarlet Ibis is a brilliant red ibis of South America. It can also be found in the nearby islands of Trinidad and Tobago.
The natural color of these birds is apparently gray and white. The immature birds are those colors. However, as the birds eat the red crabs as part of their normal diet, the pigments change their feather colors to the scarlet color that we expect.
