The Barred Buttonquail superficially resembles Quails, but is actually related to Rails and Cranes. These small birds live throughout SE Asia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and the Philippines. They live from low altitudes to high in the mountains.
These birds are also fairly easy to see as they are not as shy as other species in the family.
